For Fly North students & renters

Pilot Tools for KUAO

Everything you need to plan a flight out of Aurora State Airport in one place: field frequencies, a crosswind checker set to our runway and our limits, a density altitude calculator, local procedures, and the Oregon weather and training links our instructors actually use.

Crosswind & density altitude

KUAO crosswind checker

Enter the ATIS wind (magnetic). Checked against Fly North's student solo and renter limits.

    Density altitude

Defaults to KUAO's 200 ft field elevation. Change it for your destination.

Training aids only. Use your aircraft's POH for performance, and your instructor's endorsement limits where they're stricter.

      Local procedures

      • Runway 35 is the calm-wind runway. Expect frequent straight-in instrument traffic to Runway 17.
      • Departing 35: avoid a straight-out. Turn left to 270° or right to 060°; if you can't, fly 340° to I-5.
      • Departing 17: don't turn over the City of Aurora.
      • Noise-sensitive areas sit north of the field and southeast and southwest of Runway 35. Avoid low passes over neighborhoods.
      • Surface safety: the FAA reports KUAO has the region's highest vehicle and pedestrian deviations. Stay out of the movement area unless cleared.
      • Wildlife: migratory birds, coyotes and deer on and near the field.
      • Taxilanes have non-standard wingtip clearance. Taxi slowly near hangars.

      • PNW mountain flying needs our mountain ground class, a mountain checkout and 100 hours total time.
